STRANGE!

Discarded Mouse Returns to Set Home Ablaze

FORT SUMNER, N.M. (Jan. 8) - A mouse got its revenge against a homeowner who tried to dispose of it in a pile of burning leaves. The blazing creature returned to the man's house and set it on fire.

Andrew Chavez, Clovis News Journal
Luciano Mares attempts to help extinguish his house fire. Mares discarded a mouse in a pile of burning leaves, then it returned to set his house on fire.

Luciano Mares, 81, of Fort Sumner said he caught the mouse inside his house and wanted to get rid of it.

"I had some leaves burning outside, so I threw it in the fire, and the mouse was on fire and ran back at the house," Mares said from a motel room Saturday.

Village Fire Chief Juan Chavez said the burning mouse ran to just beneath a window of the nearby home. The flames spread up the window and throughout the house.

All contents of the home were destroyed, he said. No injuries were reported.

Unseasonably dry and windy conditions have charred more than 53,000 acres and destroyed 10 homes in southeastern New Mexico in recent weeks.

"I've seen numerous house fires," village Fire Department Capt. Jim Lyssy said, "but nothing as unique as this one."

The follow up on the news today is they are trying to blame the wind not the mouse! HMMMM I'm sticking to the mouse... I'm a serious rodent hater and I know they are evil creatures, whereas the wind is not evil... so the mouse in my opinion is the true arsonist!

MICE ARE SOOO CUTE!
ok heres a little story for you.
Kathi and I found an adorable little mouse and we took it home with us.
My mom FLIPPED out on us, and threw the poor little critter across the road.
Well the next morning guess what was on our doorstep?
The mouse! But he was dead! We think the cat got him. What are the chances?
Weird...

And as for that episode being blammed on the "wind" the guy is probably embarassed (and hopefully ashamed) of the fact that the mouse took revenge! So now hes blameing the "wind"

My brothers got two mice from PetCo for pets last year.

They named them "Squeaky" and "Adrian".

Yeah, don't get me started.

Haha.

Rachelle I'm not sure I could live with mice... I do have a Guinea Pig though and her name is Squeakers... and I had a hamster named Cuddles... so I guess I don't hate all rodents, just icky ones that sneak into our homes without permission... Kyrstin you are funny are you going to be one of those crazy PETA people someday? (People for ethical treatment of animals) Megan I must agree with you it's a wierd story!

ha,ha! probably***
i just think that people, *expecially those who are supposedly sane* though i dunno about that dude from the news, shouldn't set poor little mice on fire! How completely cruel!!!
ohhhh...that poor little thing! :(

Yeah I can see where it's mean to set an animal on fire. But I guess I struggle to view mice as animals... so I didn't feel really sad... I was sad the day a friend and I went to have coffee in Canada and she ran over a cat... that was really sad! I don't like cats very much but cats and dogs become like family! I shot a bird once while I was skeet shooting and I gave it a funeral! I was only 18 so I was supposed to be kind of wierd then... now I don't shoot things! wow this is getting weird so bye Kyrstin!
